Scores needed to qualify for the Junior Kangaroo

Junior Kangaroo Scoring

The Junior Kangaroo is scored much like the Junior Maths Challenge, with all questions being multiple choice. Questions 1-15 are given 5 marks each and questions 16-25 6 marks each, with no penalties for wrong answers.

Junior Kangaroo Certificate Boundaries from 2025

From 2025, the top 10% of entrants receive a Gold Kangaroo Certificate, the next 20% receive a Silver Kangaroo Certificate and the next 30% receive a Bronze Kangaroo Certificate. All other students receive either a Certificate of Qualification (if they qualified automatically from the Junior Maths Challenge) or a Certificate of Participation (if they made a discretionary entry without qualifying automatically).

Junior Kangaroo Grade Boundaries before 2025

Before 2025, Certificates of Merit were awarded to the top 25% of students taking part, and all other entries received certificates of qualification or participation.
