UKMT Junior Kangaroo

Everything you need for the Junior Kangaroo

The UKMT Junior Kangaroo takes place in June each year for students aged 11-13 in the UK and around the world.

When you’re ready to start preparing, Go for Gold in Maths Challenges (age 11-13) will teach you everything you need to know, and you can also sign up to a live (Zoom) class to prepare even more thoroughly.

You can even practise lots of real past paper questions with video hints and solutions in the free course Get Ready for the Junior Kangaroo, or browse past papers and certificate boundaries.

What are the Junior Kangaroo and Olympiad?

The Junior Kangaroo and Junior Maths Olympiad are follow-on rounds to the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge. If you have qualified or want to try out some of the questions try this free online course working through past JMO problems (click here)!

You can also find much more information about the competitions, including past papers and certificate boundaries further down this page.

The video below includes information about every UKMT competition, but if you click play it will start at the section about the Junior Challenges.

You Can Still Take the Kangaroo and Olympiad Even if You Don’t Qualify Automatically

If you do well in the Junior Maths Challenge, you can qualify directly to the Junior Kangaroo or the Junior Olympiad. But if you didn’t qualify (or even if you didn’t take the JMC!) you can still enter via a discretionary entry. To learn more about these, take a look at the page here!
