The 11+ Challenge Every Parent Faces

I’m sure you want to help you child pass 11+ maths but too often parents spend way too much and end up with stressed and unhappy children. Some of the reasons I see parents struggling with 11+ maths are:

  • Curriculum confusion – not knowing if you’re covering the right content or doing it in the right order
  • Time constraints – finding enough time to help with preparation alongside busy school and extra-curricular schedules.
  • Diminishing enthusiasm – watching your child’s love of maths disappear under exam pressure
  • Financial pressure – spending thousands on private tutors that could be better spent elsewhere

But What If There Was a Way to Prepare to Get the Best Results In 11+ Maths and Still Keep Maths Your Child’s Favourite Subject?

Well, that’s exactly the outcome my students achieve! In fact, over the years I’ve learnt that the way to keep students’ passion alive for the subject is to make sure they do enjoy it. But you don’t do it through artificial games and incentives. Because when taught well, the maths itself actually becomes the fun!

I’m confident that with the right approach, your child really can get the success they deserve, whilst developing problem-solving skills that will prepare them not just for the 11+ exam, but for what comes beyond it too.

Who Am I?

I’m Dr. Kevin Olding, and I studied Mathematics at Magdalen College, Oxford, where I obtained first class undergratuate and Masters degrees in Mathematics and later a PhD in Maths from the University of Bath.

I went on to teach at some of the UK’s most prestigious independent schools, first at Westminster School and then at Dulwich College where I wrote the 11+ Maths exams for 4 years.

I’ve worked with many high-achieving students as a private tutor for over 15 years and many of these have used Mathsaurus alongside their lessons with me, but I also created Mathsaurus to make this level of preparation accessible to all families – not just those who can afford expensive private tuition.

Preparing for 11+ Maths falls into three main stages:

Young girls collaborating on maths homework in classroom.
  • Level 1: Foundations This stage includes making sure you have all of the basic arithmetic and other topics and tools in place as well as beginning to solve more challenging problems.
  • Level 2: Core Topics In this stage you’ll really deep-dive into the topics needed for all 11+ papers, and make sure you have the knowledge to solve all the common types of problems.
  • Level 3: Advanced + Scholarship Here you’ll build on what you’ve learnt to develop the advanced problem-solving skills needed to master the hardest types of 11+ problems.

In the webinar, I’ll talk you through each of these stages of preparation, including when to start and what to do at each stage.

Free Bouns: I’ve also made a comprehensive online course that follows exactly this structure to help you prepare optimally, and when you register for the webinar you’ll also receive totally free access to sections from each of the three levels of the course, so whatever stage you’re at there’ll be something to help you.

Of course I’ll give you some more information about that course in the webinar, but there’s never any pressure to sign up so please come to the webinar either way. The webinar is mostly not about the course and I really just want to help you make the best decisions about how to best help your children prepare!
